Getting Ready to Fish
Required Equipment:
- Fishing rod
- Fishing line
- Hook(s)
- Lead weight (sinker)
- Floater
- Bait
Steps:
- You're most likely going to be using a rod and reel, so you'll want to thread the line through each of the rings (guides) on your rod.
- With the help of pliers you're need to fasten a lead weight (sinker) to your line - this will assure that the bait stays at the bottom.
- Attach the float (bobber) - the distance from the lead weight to the floater shouldn't be longer than the depth of the lake. This will float and should go under when a fish grabs hold of the bait - should give you a good indication if you have a fish or not.
- Now come the hooks - once you've selected the appropriate hook (depending on what you're fishing for), you'll attach it to the end of the line. Most hooks should have a litle hole at the end (the eye), which you can put the link through and tie it up using a clinch knot - will be talking more about the clinch knot in a different article.
